By default, hidden files (dotfiles) are not displayed in File Manager. The “Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)” option has to be selected in File Manager to view the hidden files.

Procedure

To show hidden files in cPanel, follow these steps:

1. Log in to cPanel

Go to your cPanel URL (e.g., yourdomain.com/cpanel) and enter your credentials.

2. Open the File Manager

  • Locate the File Manager under the Files section.
  • Click on File Manager to open it.

3. Enable Hidden Files

  • Click on the Settings button at the top-right corner of the File Manager.
  • In the Preferences popup, check the box that says Show Hidden Files (dotfiles).
  • Click Save.

4. View Hidden Files

Now, you should be able to see all hidden files (e.g., .htaccess, .env, .gitignore).
